I'VE GOT . . .

(The happy hobo song)

I've never needed more than what I've got

I've never had to be what I am not

And the greatest place on earth for me

Is on this very spot!

I've got . . . the moon and stars above me
I've got . . .
a Universe to love me

How lucky can any guy get?
I'm halfway to heaven -- and yet . . .

I've got . . . the flowers and trees around me
I've got . . .
a whole wide world that's found me

Can't even imagine having more
Not even past heaven's open door

I wouldn't trade my way for four square walls
No matter all the windows, doors and halls
For there's not enough attraction there to hold me

I miss a lot of pleasures, so I'm told
But when I count the treasures I behold
Then I know I wouldn't trade them for

The biggest pot of gold!

I've got . . . the sweet soft earth to bed me
Wherever each day's journey's led me

The warmth of a sunset's waning glow
More soothing than anything I know

I've got . . . the sparrow's song to wake me
I've got . . .
tomorrow's dawn to take me

Back out on the road where I belong
Trip-trippin' around this happy song

Now when it all comes down to what I've got
And what I give, for what remains my lot
The arithmetic I use will never change me

For I'm a part of all out there I see
And everyone out there is part of me
And when one plus one adds up to one

There's nothing more to be . . . you see,

There's nothing more to be.
